COVID-19: Coronavirus Update

UPDATED: Wednesday 25th March 2020 2:30pm

Following our update last week when we announced we would be closing the theatre for a rolling two week period and in light of further announcements made by the Government; it has become necessary to extend these closure measures further. Chequer Mead is now closed until the end of April and it is with regret that all performances and events are either cancelled or postponed during this time.

Our first priority is to protect the welfare of the public as well as our staff, volunteers and performers during these unprecedented times.

As before, ticket holders who we hold an email address for will be contacted by email. The box office team will contact other customers by telephone as our dedicated team continue to work safely and remotely from their own homes.

As a registered charity, we will be reaching out to all ticket holders to consider donating part or all of their booking to Chequer Mead, if you are able, this will greatly aid the financial impact the Coronavirus is taking on the theatre. Full refunds will also be available for cancelled or postponed events for those who prefer. Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds and credits for performances that have not been cancelled or postponed.

During the forthcoming closure period we will be working hard to re-schedule performances and ensure the arts we provide to the community can be revived as soon is reasonably possible. During this time, the box office telephone lines will remain open from Monday to Friday 9.30am – 5pm for advice and bookings. Online bookings will also be available as usual.

Towards the end of April we will be in a clearer position about the likelihood of when we may open and a decision about May's events will be made and announced. Information will be updated here on our website and on our social media channels as it becomes available.

Thank you for your understanding and we wish all the best to our customers at this time.

General Manager
